GRAND FORKS — Projects at McVille, the University of North Dakota and the Spirit Lake Reservation are among several that will split millions of dollars recently awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The nine projects and their funding were recently announced by the office of U.S. Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D. Among them is a $4 million grant for the McVille Ambulance Service District to support roadway safety planning and emergency response improvements, including technology and coordination initiatives, according to a release from Hoeven s office. Also, UND will receive $2 million to support a regional rural roadway safety initiative in western North Dakota, including safety analysis, training and crash prevention strategies. And the Spirit Lake Tribe will receive $396,274 to develop a comprehensive safety action plan to identify roadway hazards and prioritize safety improvements across the reservation.
